2008...it's gonna be great - January 6, 2008

I watched an awesome sunset on New Year's Eve...what a way to say goodbye to a year and welcome in the next.

I have so much music planned this year already that my head is spinning. I will be sending out emails to y'all for many bands that I am involved in, so be sure to try them all!!

Onward Through The Fog - July 18, 2006

Well, here we are in thick of another San Francisco summer. Thank you to all you folks who came out for the recent shows of The Westerleys and The Beerhunters. Especially you folks at The Riptide. You rock!!!
I'll be back onstage before you know it but, for the next few weeks, I'll be concentrating on writing and pre-production work for the next big album.

See ya soon!

...thought you'd like to know... - April 12, 2006

Hey ya'll, wanted you to know that I'm filling my summer with a bunch of fun shows at great venues.
please check out the calendar page.

And now for something a little different!!! - November 18, 2005

Hello again.
I've got a couple of shows to tell you about that are a little different than I've been doing.
First is the 11/30 Doug Blumer and Friends show at Strings. I've got some very talented friends and we're gonna do a variety of material and combinations. Some of The Cheatin' Hearts, some of the Westerleys, etc. Plus, Strings is just an incredible urban oasis and a super place to see music.
Second is the big Westerleys Reunion show coming up on 12/28 at Sweetwater in Mill Valley. My old singing partner Nancy Terzian is flying in from Nashville for this one. Peter Axtell, Rob McCloskey and I have been in rehearsal dusting off some of those classic songs from the 3 Westerleys albums I did in the 90s. There will be some angelic harmonies and some fancy pickin' AND its at the legendary Sweetwater Saloon.
Check it out!!!

Falling into the fall - September 14, 2005

It was a weird cold summer in San Francisco. I say good riddance to it. I'm ready for a beautiful fall season full of music. We're playing pretty much every month - somewhere - so keep checking the calendar. I'm also happy to announce that pedal steel guitarist David Phillips has joined in our little honky-tonk parade. So drop by one of the upcoming gigs for a meet and greet. bye for now.

WCS Finalist!! - August 8, 2005

wanted to toot my horn a bit (more). Tues 8/9, I will be competing as a finalist in the WCS Song Contest at Sweetwater. My song, Woman of a Certain Age (off the 10 of Hearts album) won the opening round 'best song' recently. The finals are 8/9 with the winner showcasing live in front of hundreds of industry pros and Bay Area musician and writers. Its a pretty cool scene and the competition is pretty tough, but, Hey, ya can't win if'n ya don't play, so...

Hearts on Fire!! - August 8, 2005

Hey all! A big thank you to all who made the Ivy Room show so much fun. The BBQ, the dancing, all good.
For those of you who haven't checked out the current line-up of players and songs - c'mon out.
Pam Brandon is sounding and looking sweet, Peter Tucker and Paul Olguin (aka The Apostles) are laying down a great groove and Don McClellan has been slipping and sliding all over that pedal steel. Please keep checking the website for upcoming dates and news

Cheatin' Hearts - June 6, 2005

I asked for suggestions to rename my current project. Thanks to all of you who offered suggestions. Now the winner is (drum roll).... THE CHEATIN' HEARTS.

YEP. No one beat what I had...so....ta DA....

Announcing...
THE CHEATIN' HEARTS....
I am happy as hell that I met my new friend and singing partner, Pam Brandon. She's so hip and talented that she's bound to class up the act enormously. She'll be singing and picking on all the upcoming gigs. come by and introduce yourselves.

music stuff - May 5, 2005

March 19, 2005

The music scene here in San Francisco is busier than ever, and I hope that everyone is catching some of the great local twang acts. If you aren't hip to the scene, just check out the great website HICKS WITH STICKS www.hickswithsticks.com for a complete update on what is happening in the bay area.

Send good thoughts to my pal, DALLAS WAYNE, who had to cancel all his gigs at this week's SXSW in Austin due to complications from eye surgery. Be sure to get his latest album "I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN" out in stores...I got my copy at Tower...you need to get yours soon! Billboard magazine said "Nashville should be bowing down before Dallas' songwriting"....

Don't forget to go to cdbaby.com/dougblumer to listen to my latest CD and get yourself a copy!
